The Polk County Medical Society Volunteer Physician Network (VPN) Specialty Care Program is a commitment by the doctors in Central Iowa to provide access to specialty care for those in need at no cost.

The Volunteer Physician Network is an organized program that provides uninsured patient's access to specialty care that would otherwise not be available to them. Many of the referrals we receive are from people who have jobs, they just don't make enough to afford health insurance and make too much to qualify for government programs, and they have nowhere to turn for help when they get sick. Through the VPN program excellent care can be provided effectively and efficiently by referring patients to specialists on a rotating basis so that free care is evenly distributed across the medical community.
